Richardo Keens-Douglas

Richardo Keens-Douglas MBE is an International Award Winning Author, Playwright, Director and Producer.

He has worked with leading Theatre directors from around the world and performed on some of the major stages in North America including the Apollo theatre in New York and was a member of the prestigious Stratford Shakespearean Company in Canada, working with Academy award winner Maggie Smith.

He received national recognition in Canada in 1991 -94 as Host of CBC Radio’s talk show, Cloud 9.

He was also Host of the CBC TV show, Sunday Arts Entertainment for which he received a 1996 Gemini Award Nomination for Best Host in an Arts Programme.

He was the Choreographer for The Children’s Theatre of Montreal for five years.

He is an Award Winning Children’s Author with 13 books which has been translated into five languages. He has also composed over forty songs for the theatre.

His very famous story, The Nutmeg Princess, Grenada’s first fairy-tale, was adapted into a musical for the stage and won The DORA Award, Canada’s Highest Theatre Award, for Most Outstanding Musical in 1999. In 2016, The Nutmeg Princess made the top 100 books of all time for children in Canada by parents of Canada.

In 1993 he was invited to a private dinner aboard the Royal Britannia Yacht with the late Princess Diana and Prince Charles where he did an impromptu performance of his popular story, Mama God.

In 2002, he made history as the TV Host of the Caribbean version of Who Wants to be a Millionaire.

In 2003, Mr. Keens-Douglas was inducted into the Caribbean Hall of Fame for Excellence in Theatre.

In 2005 he won the Prestigious Golden Oak Award in Canada for his book, Tales from the Isle of Spice.

In 2007 His Book Freedom Child of the Sea was chosen the official book for children in celebrating 200 years of the Abolition of slavery.
That same year he was honoured by the Queen with an MBE for Arts and Culture. He was responsible for reviving and reintroducing the Moko Jumbie Character into Grenada when he displayed them in his band in 2007 winning Band of the year. He was also Honoured with the Title of Cultural Ambassador by the Government of Grenada.

In 2014 he created “Mango” a Grenadian TV series for children.

He has written numerous plays, from musicals to comedy to drama - including the popular Ay Ya Yai Ivan telling the story of Hurricane Ivan, which Toured London, New York and Toronto and the drama UNCLE, the story of Sir Eric Matthew Gairy, which also toured Canada.

He has written plays for the stage, radio and TV dealing with social issues such as physical abuse on women, Aids/HIV, Teenage rape and incest.

He has directed and produced the Carriacou Maroon Festival, Tourism Expo, National Carnival Queens shows, Panorama shows, Di Manche Gras Shows, Kiddies Carnival, The Cultural Fiesta for independence in Grenville to name a few.

His show Reflections for The 25th Anniversary of Independence is still talked about and has been showing on TV every independence for the last 15 years.

He has been a major creator of Carnival, bringing theatre to the streets with his creative Mas Band and costume designs for the past 10 years, winning major prizes throughout the years.
As a proud son of the soil he has been keeping the culture and heritage alive with his gift and love of the arts with an impressive body of work both locally, regionally and internationally.

Valerie Daniel

Born in La Digue, St. Andrew’s Grenada, and a graduate of St. Joseph’s Convent, St. Andrew’s, Valerie’s extraordinary talent emerged at a very early age and soon she was partaking in the school and church performances. She gained prestige of being the winner of the National Arts Festival on two occasions, and second place on one occasion. She also began playing the piano at the age of six.

Valerie has had a distinguished career as a singer and voice teacher in Germany ere she earned her degree from the Music Academy of Munich, with singing as her major and piano as her minor. Her extensive training along with her natural talent established her as a much sought-after voice teacher as well as a singer. Her performance credits include roles as a soloist in opera and operettas, concerts, church recitals, movies, television and radio performances.

Her expertise as a voice teacher was in great demand. She gave workshops in voice production for different institutions. Her clientele included public persons such as politicians, actors, teachers, professors and radio/television personalities. She was described by a well-known German newspaper, Sueddeutsche Zeitung, as having “much charisma” and “excellent voice quality”.

Throughout her career in Europe she has been committed to making contributions to social welfare in Grenada. On visits to Grenada, as well as since her return to live in 2002, she has carried out numerous concerts benefiting local charities which include Grensave, the Hospital fund, for the youth attending World Youth Day in Germany, the Dorothy Hopkin home for the Disabled. Cadrona home for the Elderly, the RC church in St. Andrew’s and others.

She has appeared in many recitals, adjudicating the National Festival of the Arts, conducted workshops for church choirs and music teachers, aided the Talent Search Program, GBN Gospel Challenge, trained Grenada’s vocal representatives to World Fair Shanghai, conducted voice training workshop in St. Lucia, organised a concert in order to raise funds post hurricane Ivan at the St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Barbados, performed at the St. Mary’s College in Trinidad also as a part of Ivan relief efforts. Along with this, she teaches voice lessons on a private basis.

Rose-Ellen Duncan (Piano) graduated with honors from Midwestern State University, with a Bachelor degree in Music Education, and Biology (pre-med). She also holds a Teaching Certificate from the state of Texas. She owns a private studio where she tutors school-aged children and adults in St.George's. God is her source of musical inspiration and her goal is to magnify His WORD through music.

She has for the last four years been voluntarily teaching music at HM Prisons where she formed an active men’s choir among the prisoners.

Neila Ettienne

Narrator

Neila K. Ettienne is an actor, children's book author, director, educator and young playwright. She received her BA in Theatre from Cameron University and recently completed an MFA in Acting from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG).
In 2013, she founded the Creative Arts Theatre for young actors. As Artistic Director of the company, Neila’s main aims are to foster and encourage young people to share their stories through drama while keeping Caribbean culture alive through the performing arts.
As a playwright, Neila has written Monkey See, Monkey Do, DonkOlympics, adapted and devised with Todd Siff based on her children’s book DonkOlympics, Anansi and La Diablesse, and Dirty Dreams. Neila’s acting credits in Grenada include Aye Yai Yai Ivan, The Bayside Story, No Money No Love, I can do it mama, Uncle and Sparky-The Firefly Born Without a Light. In North America, she has had leading roles in Playhouse Creatures, Disney’s Beauty & the Beast, The Triumph of Love, A Year with Frog and Toad and most recently, Clybourne Park, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Actions and Objectives and Caroline, or Change.
Neila is also passionate about puppetry, Masks Making, Stage Management, Events Management, Grenadian Folklore, Fashion Design, French and Millinery.
At present, Neila teaches Theatre Arts at the Presentation Brothers College and in 2020 hopes to start a Drama Academy to reach more young people through the arts.

Conception Dance Theatre

The Conception Dance Theatre is a dance school and performance group specialising in Acro, Ballet, Modern, and Grenadian/Caribbean Folk

In October 2007, Artistic Director , Cecilia Griffith opened Conception Dance Theatre and has worked conscientiously not only to develop herself, but also her students by creating opportunities for them to grow technically, artistically and in their personal development through performances, workshops, the inclusion of international tutors and providing teaching opportunities to its members.

Conception Dance Theatre, now celebrating its 10th year has grown to over 270 students, operating with a dance manager and a number of skilled, trained dance teachers who all share a passion for the arts. Conception provides an environment that fosters positive attitudes; discipline, respect, diligence, and self motivation in its membership. Conception’s recent achievements include, the Shashamane Rhythm and Motion Festival in Trinidad 2016, as well as performances for the National Independence Celebrations 2015,2016 &2017, The Grenada Invitational 2017, Pure Grenada Music Festival in 2016 & 2017, the 2017 Carriacou Maroon Festival and Carifesta xiii in Barbados

Adreene Forsyth

Adreene Forsyth, known as “Dree” is a young aspiring Grenadian singer with a free spirit that’s continuously working on her craft. Her love for music started when she was about 14 years old but never had to courage to share her talent until invited to a private concert, Spicy Divas in Concert.
She’s been participating in private events since 2015 where she first began her musical journey. From sharing her sultry, neo-soul voice across the island, while having the wonderful support from islanders, family and close friends she continues to embark on her drive to become a better vocalist. It brings a warm appreciated feeling to her heart by being able to at least touch one persons’ spirit, no matter who they are in the crowd.

Jadey Bissessar

Known as the girl with a flower in her hair from Belmont Estate St.Patrick, has been singing since her high school days at SJC St.Andrew.
She has been apart of competitions such as Grenada’s Best Talent and Gospel Challenge and also participated in Spicy Divas in concert 2015, the Pure Grenada Music Festival 2016 and 2017. Jadey continues to venture into the world of music by performing at a number of private events as she continues to develop in her craft.

Over the years she has fallen deeper in love with music and the performing arts and truly loves the power of music and its influences. Her simple wish is that whoever hears her will be touched in a special way by her music and she can somehow make a positive difference.

Jenny Jeremiah

Jenny Jeremiah (or JennyJ) is a highly talented jazz, blues and soul singer. She uses her knowledge of voice production, melody and harmony for the entertainment of live audiences in concert halls, weddings, funerals and also for recording in production studios.

JennyJ has had professional voice training from renowned voice coach Mrs. Valerie Daniel.

Jeverson Ramirez

Jeverson has been singing for as long as he could remember. He had dreams of singing on big stages but never had the confidence to hold a mic. He began singing publicly in 2006 with his school choir (PBC) led by Halim Brizan. He competed in the GBN Gospel challenge competition and placed 5th in 2009 and later placed 2nd in the Grenadas best talent competition in 2012. Singing and making music is where his heart is and he loves seeing people happy because of the music he creates.

Singing is truly Gods gift to me since it has kept me sane for as long as I could remember. I am passionate about it. I feel every beat, every word, every chord and it speaks to me in ways that I never thought possible

He sings at many of the hotels on the island; performing jazz, R&B, hip hop, reggae and soca.


Jonathan Francis

Jonathan Francis also known as 'Jonny' is a 18 year old Grenadian singer/songwriter who lives at Mt.Parnassus.

He has been singing for 14 years and music is definitely his absolute passion beyond all passions. Jonathan has also made it to the stages of competitions and concerts such as Grenada's Best Talent, Gospel Challenge and Pure Grenada Music Festival 2016-2018. He also has a keen interest in theatre arts and in a great deal of musical genres including R&B, soul, pop, folk, reggae and gospel; Music has definitely been something that has been around through his many pitfalls and triumphs and has inspired him to tell a story while singing. He aspires to make his own music that inspire others not only in his country but worldwide.

Laura Lisa

Born and raised in Grenada, West Indies, Laura Lisa is a calypso singer-songwriter whose songs send powerful messages of hope, strength and self-confidence. Laura Lisa has had both live performing and recording experience. The singer performed at multiple national concerts like opening for Buju Banton and competing in numerous Calypso, Groovy and Soca (Power) Monarch competitions in Grenada. Laura Lisa has also made her way through the local reggae circuit, being the lead singer of the local reggae band, D-Unit. With them, she has opened multiple "Best of the Best" reggae shows held each year locally. Laura Lisa has released records "Hero", which was included on Xpert Productions' recent album "Strange Powers", and others such as "Better Days", "Judge Me", "Ramajay" and "Awaken", with more songs in the works. Laura Lisa, in her own right, is considered a musical gem and a symbol of feminine power in Grenada, and her music and message will do wonders to the world of music and her island.


Lucinda Ogilvie

At a young age Lucinda discovered her passion for music and was eager to get involved in her school choir and church choir. Miss Lauren Ramdhanny took her under her wing and began teaching her piano and voice which sparked her love for classical music and the Opera. Lucinda currently voice trains with Miss Valerie Daniel and assist her with Her Majesty's prison choir ministry where she inspires and encourages the inmates to strive for excellence.


Nekoyan Bain

Nekoyan has been involved in the professional music scene in Grenada for the past 11 years. Starting off as the female lead vocalist for the band Frontpage back in 2008, Nekoyan got her introduction to the Soca music stage- officially launching her career as a female soca artiste in Grenada. To date, she remains the most frequent female finalist in the final stage of Grenada’s Soca competition. Nekoyan took a break from Soca music in 2014 to explore her versatility as an artiste and she now performs with the Octane band at popular bars and restaurants as well as major concerts in Grenada. She is well praised for her ability to switch between reggae, dancehall, soca and pop tracks almost flawlessly. As Nekoyan now looks forward to launching her reggae music career, she remains grateful for the many lessons she has learned and plans to use this to make Grenada proud. She has shared stages with the likes of Destra, Bunji Garlin, Queen Ifrica, Beres Hammond and Percy Sledge.


Tammy Baldeo

Tammy (Tammy Nichole Baldeo) (born 23 Jan 1990), is a Grenadian Songstress.Tammy's voice is simply unique, with a natural sound wavering feel. well known to the Island, She captivates her audience with her sultry, soothing, serene and some times fierce presence.

This Free spirit grew up listening to a dynamic range of musical styles. Tammy also takes influence from non musical artists like authors, speakers, painters, movie directors and even dabbles in the life of fitness.

Perseverance, insight and the right interpersonal skills; charisma, a strong creative mind, confidence and authenticity are attributes that she brings to work. With 4 years of performing experience, Tammy is an acclaimed neo soul singer and alternative R&B artist.

In May of 2015 she released her first music project aptly named Lotus Blossom: A new beginning which includes 7 amazing original tracks. The release formed a tranquil, laid back, dreamy,unorthodox yet heavily inspired project. Currently, her career objective is becoming an International recording, performing and world touring artist, hopefully endorsed by an independent- music business company. She intends to employ her skills, natural abilities and knowledge to uplift, inspire and heal people through effective music and being the best version of herself. She not only prides herself in her solo career but is also a team player and is currently, the lead vocalist of the nationally popular band "Soul Deep" since April of this year 2016.

Thamara St Bernard

Thamara St Bernard, born Jienelle St Bernard, is a 28 year old singer from Mardi Gras. She has been singing for as long as she can remember and has always wanted to speak to the soul, dreams and situations of people through her music. Although versatile in her singing talents, she has gravitated towards the genres of R&B, soul, pop, slows, contemporary and reggae. She has been the opening performance for many international artistes, and one day hopes to hold her own show drawing in fans through her music. She is a talented and inspired song writer also and writes all of her own material.


Godson Browne

Godson Browne is a versatile and multi-talented musician. His earliest memories of playing on the ‘big stage’ was during his college days, backing the likes of Chevelle Franklin and Junior Tucker. Later, he co-founded the band ZAMAR which provided live backing for numerous local, regional and international artistes, including Lt. Stitchie, Emrand Henry, Joseph Niles, Lester Lewis and many more. The band also opened for many Jazz acts such as Eddie Bullen, Arturo Tappin, Boo Hinkson, Barbera Cadet and Tessanne Chin.

His early musical diet was that of Traditional and Contemporary Gospel. This combined with his consumption of various Caribbean Styles, supplemented by strong doses of Jazz & Classical music, all influence his approach to playing, composing and arranging. His musical education is inclusive of Classical music studies in ABRSM Percussion, Piano and Theory for which he has received various awards and recognitions for outstanding performances.

Godson often appears in various bands/ensembles. Some of which involved opening for various International acts including Donnie McClurkin, William McDowell, Angelique Kidjo, Chrisette Michelle, Queen Ifrica, and Third World..

In 2018, one of his songs was used for the opening of the Pure Grenada Music Festival. He went on to perform some of his original Calypso/Jazz/Fusion compositions on the closing night, with original founding members of the band ZAMAR..

Currently, he is a full-time Music Teacher, an active Performer with many top local acts, and an emerging Composer/Arranger. When not musically engaged, he enjoys spending much of his time with his wife and sons.
